Tokyo is Japan's capital and the country's largest city. Tokyo is also one of Japan's 47 prefectures. Tokyo consists of 23 city wards, 26 cities, 5 towns and 8 villages, including the Izu and Ogasawara Islands, several small Pacific Islands in the south of Japan's main island Honshu.

The population of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area including the city, some of its suburbs and the surrounding area is approximately 12 million. Tokyo is the political, economical and cultural center of Japan as well as where all the state-of-art technology such as IT is concentrated. You can also appreciate the history and the culture handed down from Edo period (around the 17th century) to Tokyo over 400 years.
